Al's anniversary present
PhotographyAl's anniversary present was another part of the proceeds from the Q2: A Minolta X-700 with a 50mm/f1.4 lens.
Years ago she took a photography class using a Minolta X-370. It was the budget edition of the X-700, which I had shot with when I worked at a small-town newspaper in rural Indiana. Neither of us remember why she parted with it, outside of "just didn't see a lot of use," and it is missing a few quality-of-life things the X-700 had, like depth of field preview.
She's been interested in picking up photography again as a supplement and creative aid to her drawing, and she's found digital cameras off-putting, so this will take her back to something a lot like what she learned on.
